Eur - South Rome
EUR is one of the youngest quarters of the capital and was conceived during the 20 year period of Fascism. The architecture of the buildings is faithful testimony of the cultural tendencies of the period. Of the many things to mention: the amusement park Luneur that draws hundreds of young Romans, the Palazzo dello Sport (PalaLottoMatica) home to sports/music events, concerts and exhibitions. Artistically speaking, worth pointing out are: the Palazzo dei Congressi (Congress Building – in the photo), the Palazzo della Civiltà Romana (Roman Culture Building – also called the Square Colosseum) and the Piazza dell’Obelisco (Square of the Obelisk). For those who love greenery this area is very rich, around the EUR lake that are paths where you can take walks and enjoy a bit of relaxing. EUR is one of the areas of Rome where most commercial affairs and businesses are concentrated, here there are many headquarters of the principal Italian companys (for example, ENI or ENEL). For shopping we advise Viale Europa, where you can find stores of every sort. South Rome is not limited to EUR; we should also take into account S. Paolo, from where rises the Basilica S. Paolo along via Ostiense, which runs from Piramide finishing at the Roman coast (Ostia, Torvaianica, etc.)
