Appio - S. Giovanni
The district Appio is very much alive and full of shops, Piazza Re di Roma to Piazza San Giovanni. There is the famous flea market of Via Sannio and taking Via Magna Grecia is easy to get to the Eur. The Basilica of San Giovanni is very impressive and May 1 each year there is a big concert for the Labor Day weekend. The subway allows you to easily move along the Via Appia Nuova, the main stops "Furio Camillo" and "Colli Albani". Going all the way until you reach the Capannelle Racetrack. In this area, do not miss the Aqueduct Park and Catacombs of San Callisto between the Via Appia Antica and the Via Ardeatina.
